A Family’s Journey to the Purest Organic Matcha
At Tea With Origin, our story began not with a product—but with a need.
As a multicultural family living in Japan, we searched for a matcha that was safe enough for a breastfeeding mother—one that was clean, organic, and truly traceable. What we found instead was a market flooded with mass-produced blends, grown with synthetic pesticides like neonicotinoids—neurotoxins absorbed directly into the body when consuming matcha in its whole-leaf form.
We knew there had to be a better way.
That search led us to Wazuka, Kyoto—the birthplace of Japan’s most revered matcha. There, we found a fifth-generation tea farm that shared our values: purity, transparency, and tradition. They had transitioned to fully organic cultivation, hand-tending each leaf without the use of chemicals or shortcuts.
Today, we work directly with them to bring you a matcha that is as rare as it is real. With only 4% of Japan’s matcha grown in Kyoto—and less than 1% of that certified organic—ours is an extraordinary expression of what matcha was always meant to be: vibrant, unblended, and deeply rooted in place.
Every cup tells the story of where it comes from—and why it matters.
